Meet The Duo Behind Santa Cruz Deliveries

Daniel



My name is Daniel and I’m one of the co-founders of Santa Cruz Deliveries, I’m the CEO, President, Treasurer, Driver and everything in between.



We Launched Santa Cruz Deliveries on February 2, 2018. The original idea was that you could text us, or call us to place your order and we would deliver it. We got one real order and about 10 fake orders for random things. On March 1st, we launched the first version of our website. We had about 6 menus mostly from fast food places that would appeal to college students, a few hours after launching the website we got our first order for Chipotle Mexican Grill.


Growing up I always had an entrepreneur mentality. When I was in middle school I started a candy selling business. I would buy a bag of mixed Mexican candy from a store down the street, and I would sell the candy by the piece to my classmates. It got so big that I got my friends involved and at one point we were making $100 a week selling candy. I even had my mom sew a bag inside my backpack where I could keep all the change that I was getting.

While I was attending college I needed a side hustle so I started working for Uber, Lyft, and Doordash who was barely coming up in San Jose. After a year and a half of working in the gig economy, I came back home to Santa Cruz and I started doing some research and found out that there was no delivery service aside from a small outdated company. After collecting some data I found that Santa Cruz was in serious need of a reliable service that can connect customers to everything Santa Cruz has to offer whether it’s Food, Liquor, Cannabis products or more.


Our goal is to make Santa Cruz Deliveries your one stop to get anything and everything Santa Cruz has to offer and we definitely do not want to be seen as just a delivery service because that's only the beginning. We have some very exciting ideas and a clear vision on what we want Santa Cruz Deliveries to become. It should be like a guide for all the events, restaurants, shops, and more and hopefully not just in Santa Cruz but everywhere you go.


Daniel favorite place in Santa Cruz is hands down the Cliffs on the west side. There is a magic hour right before the sun goes down where you get the most beautiful colors of the sunset. I never get tired of looking at it, and I don't think I ever will. My goal is to buy a house on west cliff drive so that I can always look at that sunset.


Up until I started Santa Cruz Deliveries I was not aware of how many culinary jewels Santa Cruz had. There are so many great food joints that it is super hard to pick just one so I will give you my top 3 favorites placed that I eat almost every week. I love Chinese food and Betty’s noodle house is my go-to place. You definitely can't beat Pono Hawaiian Grill with their food, and all the poke bowls. My mouth is watering just talking about it, and Taqueria Santa Cruz Has the best Burritos al pastor and Carne en su jugo.

My name is Gerardo, I’m one of the co-founders at Santa Cruz Deliveries and I'm in charge of logistics



I attended Harbor high class 2016 played Football & Lacrosse all throughout high school, I was working on a major in psychology at Cabrillo but I dropped out to start Santa Cruz Deliveries with my brother Daniel. I've been working since I can remember. My mom has a house cleaning business and she is also a chef so I would help her out throughout my teen years. I got My first real world job at 15, at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk in customer service, then I worked at Lupulo Craft Beer House for 3 years running the kitchen.


My Goal for Santa Cruz Deliveries is to build a successful company from the ground up, make my parents proud and hopefully less upset at the fact that I dropped out of college.


My Favorite place In Santa Cruz is West Cliff, you will find me parked in my car working on my laptop, with my headphones on when I’m not out making deliveries. I love the ocean, I'm Surfer boy at heart even though I never learned how to surf, however that is definitely in my bucket list right after building a successful company.


I love food but I'm very picky, everything must be super fresh, ideally organic and locally sourced, so Charlie Hong Kong on Soquel is a must have for me, on a Wednesday night you'll probably find me there right before they close at 11:00 pm. Real Thai kitchen is another place that I love to eat at especially their Pad Thai, and Wingstop is my guilty pleasure food. That's just something that I can't get enough off.
